Triangle Minesweeper
Triangle Minesweeper is a free online puzzle for players who enjoy classic Minesweeper and want a new kind of board to read. The field is built from triangles instead of squares or hexagons. Tiles touching at an edge or a corner count as neighbors, so a triangle in the middle of the board has twelve neighbors instead of eight in classic Minesweeper or six in Hex Minesweeper. The familiar numbers and flags are still here, with highlighted neighbors and explained hints to help you follow the clues.
How to Play
- Click or tap any triangle to open it. The first move is always safe.
- A number tells you how many neighboring triangles contain bombs. Count tiles touching at corners as well as edges.
- Opening a tile with no bombs next to it clears the connected empty area and its surrounding clues.
- Right-click or long-press to place a flag. On a phone or tablet, you can also select Flag mode and tap a tile. Flagged tiles cannot be opened by accident.
- Open every tile without a bomb to win. You do not have to place every flag.
- Opening a bomb ends the game.
- Tap Mochi in the top bar, or the restart button, to start a new board.
- Select the difficulty in the top left to choose a board size. Changing it starts a new game.
- The question mark in the top right opens the rules.
Reading the Board
Twelve neighbors can be a lot to keep track of. Hover over any triangle to highlight it in gold and show all its neighbors in green. The highlight includes tiles that touch only at a corner. On a touch screen, choose Inspect mode and tap a triangle to check its neighbors without opening it.
The bomb counter shows how many bombs you have not flagged yet, and the clock starts with your first opening. A flag is your own note about a tile; it does not confirm that a bomb is there.
When an open number has the right number of flags around it, clicking that number opens its remaining unflagged neighbors. Check those flags carefully: an incorrect flag can make this move open a bomb.
Puzzle Difficulties
- Easy: 128 tiles with 16 bombs.
- Normal: 220 tiles with 36 bombs.
- Hard: 336 tiles with 64 bombs.
The game works on desktop, phones, and tablets. On a small screen, pinch to zoom and drag to move around the field.
No Guessing
Every Triangle Minesweeper board can be completed by logic alone. The puzzle is generated on your first opening and checked with the same deductions used by the hints. If a board needs more information, extra safe clues are revealed at the start so there is a logical route through the whole field. Bombs stay in the same places throughout the game.
If you get stuck, press Hint. It highlights a logical next move and explains which clues support it. A safe tile glows bright green; a tile known to contain a bomb is marked in pink. Press Apply hint to make the move. Hints are unlimited, so you can use them to finish the entire board or just learn the next step.
Hints work from the revealed numbers, not from guesses you have marked with flags. They can help correct a flag placed on a safe tile. The board never requires a guess, but opening a bomb or clearing neighbors around incorrect flags can still lose the game.
After Win
When every safe triangle is open, the game shows your time, moves, and hints used. Choose Play again for a new puzzle, or View the board to look back over the field you cleared.
